You Need to Watch: American Stuffers

You guys. Before I start this post, I want you to know that when I Googled "American Stuffers" to find a picture for today, a New York Times article about the show came up. THE NEW YORK TIMES. I think that's pretty awesome for a show that is about a grown man stuffing dead pets for a living. With that being said...

You MUST watch American Stuffers (Animal Planet, Thursdays 10pm) immediately. IMMEDIATELY! Fiance and I happened upon a re-run about two weeks ago and ever since I have been telling basically everyone about it.

Stuffers follows Daniel Ross and his business, Xtreme Taxidermy (I'm serious) and the goings on of his family life with wife LaDawn and kids Christian, Mason and Hunter. The show also features the hilarious people who work in Ross' shop like Fred and Dixie (who I think is a veterinary student).

In one of the episodes we watched, they stuffed a teacup yorkie named Princess who had "died in childbirth". In actuality in appears that Princess had some sort of cancerous tumor in her abdomen, which the staff discovered while they were attempting to get the babies out so that they could stuff them, too. Your can't make this stuff up, guys. AND did you know that you have to put an animal through this giant machine that spins them around for hours before you stuff them? Because you do.

Seriously, check this out immediately. If you pet I would really suggest putting them in the other room while this is on the television.

You Need to Watch: The Fashion Fund

Bored today? Check out The Fashion Fund on Hulu. It's a new show that follows designers as they compete to win the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awarded to up & coming designers. 

Previous winners include Proenza Schouler, Doo.Ri, Alexander Wang and more. If the concept seems familiar it's probably because you are tres chic and caught the documentary Seamless by Douglas Keeve on Netflix (if you haven't, do it now). The winner of this competition pretty much gets their career made, so there's a lot at stake (re: DRAMMAAS). 

If you watch the Keeve documentary, you get introduced to the young and unknown duo Proenza Schouler, soooo kind of a really big deal.  Watch the show so you can be all I TOTALLY KNEW ABOUT THEM BEFORE THEY WERE BIG.  Because everybody loves it when you do that.

If you're interested in seeing Seamless, it's available for instant stream over at Netflix.  And if you REALLY want to treat yourself, watch Unzipped.  It's Keeve's first documentary on fashion (and better) about his then-boyfriend Isaac Mizrahi (whom I am on a personal mission to befriend).  It's a beautifully made film, and pretty much inspired me to do what I do.  Annnnnd it's just been added to instant play on Netflix so you can watch it right now.  Have I sold it enough?  Watch it and get back to me.

You Need To Watch: Stephen Colbert Interview Maurice Sendak

This may quite possibly be one of the greatest interviews of all time.  Stephen Colbert interviews children's author Maurice Sendak about writing children's books.  The mixture of air bag idiot (Colbert) and some how both crotchety and joyful old man (Sendak) is pure bliss.  I can only hope that there actually is a part two, and that Sendak doesn't kill me.

You Need to Watch: The TRL Decade

On January 29th at 9:30 PM, be sure your TV's on VH1.  The network is bringing back their Emmy award winning series Rock Docs to do a feature length documentary on the show of our childhood with The TRL Decade.  How many times did you race home from school because Carson was going to show us a few clips of Stronger?  Or the Backstreet Boys were stopping by the premiere their new video for I Want It That Way.  Remember when the cast of American Pie was on and Carson had to interview Tara Reid?  We felt for him.  Or Mariah Carey decided that she only wanted to wear a TRL t-shirt?  We knew from Carson uneasy manner that something wasn't right.  Or when they hosted a special episode after September 11th when we could call in, along with the artists, to share what we were feeling?  TRL was a huge part of our lives, and was a massive influence on the music industry.  The record companies would call the show to find out when an artist's video was going to be retired (65 days, just like an old person) so that they knew when to release the next song.  It was an epic, simple show.  I think that was the best part about it.  It was just your friend Carson, and his cool musician friends.  We all hung out after school and checked out what was going on with the day.

I'm beyond excited to check this out, and so happy to hear that Rock Docs is back.  Let's keep this 90s nostalgia rolling, I can get down with more of this.

You Need To Watch: Billy on the Street

If you're not watching Funny or Die's Billy on the Street you're missing out on a hell of a good time.  It's a new music and pop culture trivia show on Fuse and it's amazing.  Last night I sat with my friends and we watched all three episodes in a row.  I felt like I did an ab work out from laughing so hard.  Luckily we watched it on demand so we could rewind to the parts we were laughing to hard to hear.  Seriously.  You need to watch this show.  Watch a clip of the show after the break:
