I Present To You My New Wardrobe, Provided by the Met Gala

The Met Gala was last night (fashion's prom) and I just wanted to warn you what will be my new uniform.

I will WERQ that cape, bitches.  But in case I get bored with looking glamourous/fabulous/divine/etc/etc all the time, I'm giving myself some options:

I think I'm prob going to incorporate this head piece with my main outfit.  I'll just ask Rachel Zoe to make it in a matching fabric.

And then once this becomes my main wardrobe I'll start my career as a drag queen so no one will question why I am wearing a gold cape at 10 in the morning.  DON'T BE JEALOUS OF MY BOOGIE.

I Want This: Turquoise Heart Ring

So I started this blog because of my love of fashion blogs.  Yesterday I realized that the last time I posted something fashion-y was when I talked about Xtina's hot pink flamingo outfit from 2003.  UP TO THE  MINUTE FASHION NEWS WE'VE BEEN DOING HERE.

Ugh.  Boo on me.  So from here on out I'm making an attempt to incorporate fashion-y things more often. Let's start with this ring I found over at Style Caster.  I must have it.  Must.  It's my color, and perfect.  That is all.

ooOOOOoooOOOO how fashion blogger am I now?  If I stop with this I give you permission to hit me.  Unless you hate it and the 2 straight male readers I have (if that) flee then we will reevaluate.

ALSO:
I have no idea where this ring is actually from and thus am hindered in my ability to procure such item (such fance lingo, huh?).  IF YOU KNOW WHERE IT'S FROM maybez tell me about it?  Or just buy it for me.  Then we can be BFFS4LYFE.

GQ has released their first ever style bible and they decided to go pretty eh on the cover(s).

J.  Effing. K.  I don't think you could pick three men who look better in suits.  And also, mind the nerd moment, but I love the cover design.  The font combo + my favorite color = I want everything I look at to be in this layout from now on.  

But seriously.  So good.  And if you're thinking "UGH why did they go with the Franco no one knows?" LEAVE. NOW.  Davy Franco is the greatest Franco.

Christina Aguilera: Cray or Ridiculed Genius?

So here's the question.  Was she a crazy fashion DON'T, or just a fashion GENIUS predicting the trends for ten years in the future?  And now she is sitting whirling around in her big red chair laughing manically at us because we didn't know dresses made completely out of feathers would just be so in.

Just So You Know: We're Totes Gonna Be Lady Pimps/Dandies Next Fall

GUYS. In my up-to-the-minute commentary on New York Fashion Week, I bring you news that happened a month ago:

It appears, according to all-knowing Ralph Lauren, that next fall we (us ladies) will be opening door and waiting to get off elevators because WE will be the suave gentlemen.  I mean just check out these new hot looks:

 

I am SO getting a cane for fall.  I WILL BE SO CHIC AND MAYBE MY KNEES WILL STOP HURTING.

The Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue REVEALED.

JK not that serious, but still pretty cool.  Vanity Fair has revealed their Hollywood issue, featuring the young fresh ladies in the business.  The photos were shot by Mario Testino in a 1920s-glam style.

I know I should be SO OVER the Roaring 20s because the look is DONE dahlings, DONE.  Buttttt I can't help but love it.  I'm a sucker for the era and I'm counting down until The Great Gatsby gets released and it has a Moulin Rouge-like effect on fashion and trends (remember when we all dressed like late 19th century whores for a  minute? Ahhh those were the days).

So suffice to say I am all over this cover and can't wait until it's acceptable to wear a corset that gives me a boy shape and chop off all my hair (not really but you get me).

You Need to Watch: The Fashion Fund

Bored today? Check out The Fashion Fund on Hulu. It's a new show that follows designers as they compete to win the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awarded to up & coming designers. 

Previous winners include Proenza Schouler, Doo.Ri, Alexander Wang and more. If the concept seems familiar it's probably because you are tres chic and caught the documentary Seamless by Douglas Keeve on Netflix (if you haven't, do it now). The winner of this competition pretty much gets their career made, so there's a lot at stake (re: DRAMMAAS). 

If you watch the Keeve documentary, you get introduced to the young and unknown duo Proenza Schouler, soooo kind of a really big deal.  Watch the show so you can be all I TOTALLY KNEW ABOUT THEM BEFORE THEY WERE BIG.  Because everybody loves it when you do that.

If you're interested in seeing Seamless, it's available for instant stream over at Netflix.  And if you REALLY want to treat yourself, watch Unzipped.  It's Keeve's first documentary on fashion (and better) about his then-boyfriend Isaac Mizrahi (whom I am on a personal mission to befriend).  It's a beautifully made film, and pretty much inspired me to do what I do.  Annnnnd it's just been added to instant play on Netflix so you can watch it right now.  Have I sold it enough?  Watch it and get back to me.

Can We Talk About: Armani Privé & Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century

The couture shows have begun and this morning we were given the Armani Privé show.  The dresses are also gorgeous, futuristic, and most recently famous for being one of the many dresses Anne Hathaway donned on Oscar night last year.

From looking at this season's collection, I have come to a very important deduction.  Armani Privé is the wardrobe on Zenon, girl of the 21st century, had she grown up and become a successful business woman/young socialite.  See the evidence after the jump.
